Pelayo

(Spanish Battleship, 1887-1925)

Photographed at the La Seyne shipyard (Toulon, France) of the firm Forges et Chantiers de la Mediterranee on the day of her launch, 5 February 1887. Note the large reviewing stand at the right, the few wooden shorings remaining to keep the hull on the building ways, and the many small steam launches in the foreground.
