Wave (American Fishing Vessel, 1912)

Wave, a 248-ton steam-powered, steel-hulled trawler, was built in 1912 (or 1913) at Quincy, Massachusetts. She was seriously considered for World War I era Navy service, to the point where plans were prepared for her conversion and assignment to the First Naval District. However, though assigned the registry ID # 1706, she was not taken over and remained in the hands of her owner, the Bay State Fishing Company of Boston, Massachusetts.

This page features the only view we have concerning the fishing vessel Wave.

Wave
(American Fishing Vessel, 1912)

In port, prior to World War I. The "B" on her smokestack is the mark of her owner, the Bay State Fishing Company of Boston, Massachusetts.
This steam trawler, which had Navy registry ID # 1706, was ordered delivered for World War I service in June 1917 and again in June 1918. However, the Navy did not actually take her over, and she remained in the hands of her owner throughout the conflict.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
