Craster Hall, a 4319 gross ton freighter, was built in 1909 by William Hamilton & Company of Port Glasgow, Scotland. In April 1918 she was turned over to the U.S. Navy and, in May, placed in commission as USS Craster Hall (ID # 1486). As a unit of the Naval Overseas Transportation Service, the ship made three trips to France between then and early 1919, carrying U.S. Army cargo. She was decommissioned in early February 1919 and returned to her owners, the United States Steel Products Company, of New York City.
This page features the only view we have concerning the freighter Craster Hall, which was USS Craster Hall (ID # 1486) in 1918-1919.
