Coyote, an 89-foot motor pleasure boat, was built in 1897. In April 1917 she was acquired by the Navy from her owner, Sylvester Sparling of Evanston, Illinois, and placed in commission as USS Coyote (SP-84). Except when laid up during the icy Great Lakes' winters, she was employed for patrol, training and transportation service at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Illinois, and at nearby Chicago. Coyote was stricken from the list of Naval vessels in June 1919 and sold in December of that year.
This page features the only views we have concerning the motor boat Coyote and USS Coyote (SP-84).
