Cohasset, a 5770 gross ton freighter, was built in 1918 by the Fore River Shipbuilding Corporation at Quincy, Massachusetts, as part of the Emergency Fleet Corporation's World War I merchant ship construction program. She was turned over to the Navy in early December 1918 and placed in commission at that time as USS Cohasset (ID # 3679). Assigned to the Naval Overseas Transportation Service, she made two round-trip voyages between the East Coast and France from mid-December 1918 to late April 1919. In May 1919 USS Cohasset was decommissioned and returned to the United States Shipping Board.
This page features the only view we have concerning the freighter Cohasset, which was USS Cohasset (ID # 3679) in 1918-1919.
