Advance (Harbor Tug, 1912).
Served as USS Advance (ID # 3057, later YT-28) in 1918-1934

Advance, a 167 gross ton harbor tug, was built at Solomons Island, Maryland, in 1912. She was acquired by the Navy during World War I, commissioned in late July 1918 as USS Advance (ID # 3057) and served in the Norfolk, Virginia, area during and after the conflict. In mid-1920, when the Navy formally adopted hull numbers for its ships, she was designated YT-28. Laid up in June 1933 after some fifteen years of Navy service, USS Advance was sold in June 1934.

This page features our only views of the harbor tug Advance and of USS Advance (ID # 3057, later YT-28).
