Turns over the Pratt & Whitney R-1340 radial engine of a SNJ-4 training plane, at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida, 30 November 1943.
This photograph was used in a World War II recruiting poster.

WAVE Aviation Machinist's Mates


Work on the Pratt & Whitney R-1340 radial engine of a SNJ-4 training plane, at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida.
They are AMM 3rd Class Bernice Snasburg and AMM 3rd Class Violet Falkum, both graduates of the Navy's Technical Training Center at Norman, Oklahoma.
Date is probably on or about 30 November 1943.
Note markings on the plane's propeller.
