Electronics Technician 1st Class Askew, USN (in service, circa 1973-1975)

ET1 Askew was involved in the removal of equipment from the stricken cruiser ex-USS Galveston (CLG-3) in about 1973-1975. At that time he may have been assigned to the Naval Amphibious School at Coronado, California, as the removed items were to be installed in a simulator at the Surface Warfare Officer School, a part of the Amphibious School.

This page features our only images of ET1 Askew.

"Left to right: IC2 Forrest and ET1 Askew disconnecting a surface search radar repeater from the ex-USS Galveston, CLG-3. This repeater, along with others will be tied to an AN/SPS T3 radar simulator and a small computer to supply the variables like range, bearing and speed. These equipments when used together will produce a radar picture equal to the real thing."
