Iwo Jima Campaign, 1945

U.S. forces stalk Japanese snipers in caves and holes along Iwo Jima's rugged northern coast, during "mopping up" operations, 8 April 1945.
At the base of the pinnacle rock in center, a Bazooka rocket has just been fired into the mouth of a cave, as men with follow up with fire from a .45caliber Thompson submachinegun and a .30caliber Browning Automatic Rifle.
