Photo #: KN-9827 (Color) Insignia: USS Constellation (CVA-64) Artwork of the emblem adopted when the ship was first commissioned in 1961. It was photographed on 20 October 1962. In a star-spangled blue field, the design features symbols of Constellation and her name. The stars are, of course, a stellar constellation, the original source of the ship's name. The first USS Constellation, the frigate of 1797, is shown at left. CVA-64, her aircraft and her guided missile battery are represented by the other figures. Official U.S. Navy Photograph.
