Snark (American Motor Boat, 1917)
Underway after World War I, while employed as a pleasure craft.
Privately built by Herreshoff at Bristol, Rhode Island, for possible
Navy use as a patrol boat, she was commissioned as USS Snark
(SP-1291) on 30 August 1917 and returned to her owner on 29 March
1919.
Note that she still wears her wartime "SP" number in
commemoration of her Naval service, and has been refitted with
an enlarged pilot house.
