Recompression chamber installed on board the ship to support deep diving tests in Long Island Sound, 21 October to 5 November 1914. A dive made on 3 November 1914 reached the then-record depth of 274 feet.
Note "hard-hat" diving gear on deck, potato locker at left, light-weight boat davits and small lapstrake-construction skiff at right.
