Photo #: NH 92148 Lena River Delta, Siberia Facsimile of the Lena Delta map that Lieutenant Commander George DeLong had available for use during the Jeannette Arctic exploring expedition of 1879-1881. Its many omissions and inaccuracies were probably instrumental in the loss of his men, who landed at the head of the delta in September 1881 and died of starvation during the following two months.
