Photographed at the time of a fatal gun accident on board, January 1926. The photograph's original caption (which does not completely fit the image) reads:
"One Sailor was killed and seven other members of the forward four-inch gun crew received minor injuries as a result of the premature explosion of the gun during battle torpedo practice off Point Loma, California, January 1926. The gun is in the center, foreground."
