Grant (center, seated) With his wife and son, and ship's officers, on board USS Vandalia (1876-1889), during his 1877-78 Mediterranean cruise on board that ship. Former President Grant and his party boarded Vandalia at Villefranche, France, on or about 13 December 1877.
