Photo #: NH 42411 USS Pretoria (1919-1919) Underway in New York Harbor while on troopship duty in 1919. Photographed by E. Muller Jr., New York. Built in 1897 as a German flag passenger liner, this ship was taken over by the Navy following World War I and placed in commission on 29 March 1919. She was turned over to the U.S. Shipping Board on 25 November 1919 for transfer to Great Britain. U.S. Naval Historical Center Photograph. Online Image: 50KB; 740 x 515 pixels
