"Great White Fleet" World Cruise,
December 1907 -- February 1909
Atlantic Fleet cruisers steam in column, as they welcome the
"Great White Fleet" upon its return to Hampton Roads,
Virginia, at the end of its cruise around the World, 22 February
1909.
These cruisers all wear the recently adopted grey paint.
Ships at right and center are, in no particular order: USS North
Carolina (Armored Cruiser # 12) and USS Montana (Armored
Cruiser # 13).
The three to the left are, also in no particular order: USS Chester
(Scout Cruiser # 1), USS Birmingham (Scout Cruiser # 2)
and USS Salem (Scout Cruiser # 3).
