Reading the output tape is Lieutenant Commander L.S. Malnati, USNR. Note LCdr. Malnati's rank stripes, which do not extend completely around his jacket sleeves. This reflects an authorized wartime Uniform Regulations change, intended to conserve the materials used to make the stripes. The original picture caption does not identify the location.
