Underwood and Underwood, a firm founded in the early 1880s by the Kansas brothers Elmer and Bert Underwood, was active during the last two decades of the 19th and the first several decades of the 20th Centuries. Based initially at Ottawa, Kansas, the company was later located in Baltimore, Maryland and New York City, but also operated in Washington, D.C. and many other places. Though most widely noted for its vast output of stereoscopic images, Underwood & Underwood also engaged in general photographic work and functioned as a news photo agency.
