Robert Hinckley was born at Boston, Massachusetts, on 3 April 1853. Following artistic studies in Paris, France, he established a studio in Washington, D.C. Hinckley also taught at the Corcoran Art School, in Washington. He died at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, on 1 June 1941.
