    Photographed on 27 April 1931, probably at Naval Air Station Anacostia, D.C.
    This experimental airplane was then undergoing flight tests for possible use on board aircraft carriers. It was later converted for operation with airships.

    Pilot is Lieutenant Howard L. Young, who is reaching out to guide the trapeze's stabilizing arm into a corresponding fitting on the plane's upper wing.
